Address: 2375 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150
Parking: Free parking lot available at the address above
Hours: 24 hours
Type: Lodging
Regulations: Dogs stay free in rooms, must be on leash outside
Best time to visit: October was perfect. Anytime but summer, as Tahoe gets hot and prices go up. Rooms are a great deal for $50/night, but in summer the prices are much higher and the rooms are not worth the price.
Description:
This is no-frills lodging but it’s clean, in a great location, and it’s super dog-friendly. There is no fee for your dog, and it appears that the dog-friendly rooms are all in a row, conveniently adjacent to the walking trail behind the property. There are doggy clean-up bags along the walking trail, which is the perfect place to take your dog out in the morning. However, be careful at night because bears do frequent the property. During our visit bears came to the trash bins one night, but as soon as a car drove by they walked back into the forest. People were walking nearby and they had no interest, so they were just scavenging for food. Don’t leave any food in your car.
All the dogs we encountered were friendly and not noisy. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was nice. The shower/bath combination had great water pressure (it was actually almost too powerful!). The rooms are small, but there was plenty of room for Bailey’s dog bed. Our room had a boxy TV with basic cable, and they do not provide shampoo or hair dryers, so bring your own. At $50/night, the price was right, but don’t expect luxury in this spot. Parking is free and abundant. They have a seasonal pool (closed during winter), and wifi is extra. For $2.99 you can have wifi for one device, or $7 for high speed. There is a laundry room and vending machines on the property.
