***As of July 2021 the trail down to the beach has severely eroded and is under construction. There is a short ladder you must go down to get to the beach. It might be possible to get a small dog down here with the help of two people, but probably too difficult with a large dog ***
Address: 879 Palmetto Ave, Pacifica, CA (approx.) Parking: Free parking lot near the address above Hours: Not Posted Type: Swim Best time to visit: Summer to escape the heat and go for a swim Regulations: Dogs allowed off-leash; however, be careful here as the path leading down to the beach has a patch of exposed metal fencing sticking out of the sand, and during certain times of year the waves are strong. I recommend keeping your dog on-leash until you explore the beach.
Description: This is a beautiful, secluded beach with miles of coastline to explore. The two main entrances are currently roped off due to erosion, and we lucked out and found this secret entrance. Most people must think the beach is closed, because we only encountered a few people and a couple dogs throughout the entire day. It’s a short walk down to the beach, and although it has a slope, it’s not overly steep and we managed to walk down holding coolers and bags of gear. Once you reach the bottom, there are remnants of metal fencing sticking out of the sand in one area, so watch your step. There are miles of beach to explore by either going right or left after walking down. You can see the pier near Mori Point to your left, and eventually you will see Mussel Rock to your right. This is a clean beach with soft sand, and aside from the metal fencing at the entrance, I had no problem walking barefoot along the rest of the beach. During our visit, there appeared to be some strong waves, so keep an eye on your dog. Just like any beach, currents are worse during certain times of the year. Please keep this beach somewhat of a secret, pack out your trash and pick up after your dog, so it will remain as beautiful as it is today!
There are garbage cans near the parking lot but no restrooms or running water.
