Description: I've stayed here twice in a year with good experiences each time, and I think this place is a great deal for the money. The first time, I stayed for 3 nights, and the second time I stayed for one night. I stayed with my yellow lab (no extra charge for dogs) and the price was definitely a great deal. I saw mixed reviews before coming, so I was pleasantly surprised. The room was renovated, clean, and staff was friendly. I got free wifi, a large non-smoking room facing the pool with a queen bed, a booth seating area, a microwave and a full-sized refrigerator. The room had a flat screen TV with HBO, an area to hang my clothes and set my luggage, wood floors, a nice bathroom with an updated vanity, and the heater and shower worked well.
My dog stayed free, which was quite a deal compared to the $10-$15 per night fee at other hotels in the area (a nearby hotel even told me I could only have my dog in a smoking room!). I worked at hotels for a number of years so I know what to look for, and this place passed the test. I called ahead twice to get info and both staff members were super friendly and helpful. I asked about getting a renovated room with a mini fridge and was informed that pretty much every room has been renovated and the only ones that aren't are saved for emergencies. They said they have about 10 rooms with mini-fridges and I could probably get one. I was pleasantly surprised that I received a room with a full-sized fridge! They also have a guest-access only laundry room with 2 washers, 2 dryers, 3 vending machines and an ice machine.
This hotel is in a good location, not too far from multiple awesome hikes. We also walked over to Riverbend park (about 3 blocks away) which is perfect for dogs, kids, picnics, and even has a large disc golf course. It had some nice scenic trails along the water.
Now of course this place wasn't perfect, but the imperfections weren't a big deal to me and I really can't complain for the price and amenities. If I had to find cons: the room had a few imperfections like small chips missing, peeling along the bottom of the door, and the walls were a little thin but my neighbors didn't keep me up.
Oroville itself isn't the fanciest area, but I enjoyed hiking in the area and I parked in front of the lobby area and I felt safe here. I didn't see any sketchy guests like I read in some reviews. Overall, I think this is a great place to stay in the area and you'll be happy with getting a great deal.
