Type: Hike/Walk Regulations: Dogs required to be on-leash in the main park (west of Dornan Drive). Dogs are not allowed in the lagoon. Dogs can be off-leash if under voice control in undeveloped areas (trails on the hillside). Best time to visit: Anytime except a hot day. Most trails are fully exposed to sunlight with little shade.
Description: This 307-acre park has a lot to offer: easy, flat trails along the lake with views of SF and steeper hiking trails in the hills with 360 degree panoramic views of the surrounding area.
From the parking lot, you can walk directly ahead towards the lagoon for a flat walk along the water. For a more strenuous hike, cross the road (carefully), and take the Doran Grove Trail (behind the Richmond Ramblers building). This snakes up along the hillside and you can take the East Trail up the the peak. There are great views of SF, the Richmond Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge. You can also see behind you, towards downtown Richmond and the yacht harbor. There are miles of other trails on the hillside.
This park has benches, picnic tables, BBQ pits, water fountains and flushing toilets.
